Default Detroit Bankruptcy.

I fervently hope none of our members, Mike and others, are adversely affected by the bankruptcy filing by the Detroit city manager.

Tom, it should actually improve things for us. Detroit city water is actually better than most bottled waters. Detroit has been gouging the suburbs for years on water prices so we may see some relief. You only ever see negative photos of Detroit but some areas have been redeveloped and are thriving. New business's are emerging and jobs are returning to the city now that the crooks are no longer in control.

Today a judge ordered the Emergency Manager to withdraw the bankruptcy filing.

Could it have been caused by all the money spent by Mike on Bosch tools?\\

(just kidding, Mike)......

Some of the selected photos shown on our TV news report are very depressing.

That sounds good Mike, we have a similar situation with the city of Harrisburg in Pa. We sure do have too many crooks in government today.

In today's paper, there was a house for sale at Normile St, Detroit for $US39.00.

Detroit really is unique in that we have oil refineries, steel mills, foundries, glass manufacturers and more machine shops than any other place in the world. Our suburbs are divided by roads instead of space like most other cities. Detroit population fell from a high of about 1.8 million to the current 700K. (In the city proper) The world press delights in showing all the bad parts of Detroit but they never ever show the redevelopment. (Bad sells papers) Our population is wonderfully diverse; most cultures are represented here. You can take a moonlight dinner cruise on the Detroit river, visit the art institute, watch a play, catch a game at any of the new stadium facilities, listen to a concert for any type of music... this list is endless. The Detroit Metro area which includes the suburbs really is unlike any other place on earth.

I don't understand why people always look for the bad. I live just north of Pittsburgh, PA and I use to watch the news everyday, Now I can't remember the last time I even turned my TV on. They did the same thing here. Only thing they report is negative and I know for a fact that there is a lot of positives, but like Mike said negative = $$$. I think it's sad. So they aren't going to bail them out? I hope not it's sad when big companies get help but the little guys get well to pay for their greed.

Hi I am Dan from Windsor Ontario Canada just across he border from Detroit. And can attest to what has been said here on the Forum. We get the same negative comments from people who just have no idea what is available in this area. Bad city management and corruption has created it and nobody was willing to cut down and balance the budget. We are with you Detroit.
