Default I gotta share this msg I got this morning...

Before I insert this picture, I gotta tell you a little story behind it-

I joined a group for scrolling not long ago. I did this for numerous reasons, one, because I started my serious woodworking with scrolling, and secondly because scroll patterns make amazing patterns for routing...

Having said that, I posted some of my work I did in routing over there in a section for "Other Woodworking." The response has been nothing short of amazing. I got on that forum this morning, to find a message on my post-I had tears in my eyes from giggling...

Okay Dusten tell me how I can help to make it easier. I ask because I can relate to being frustrated and have a horrible temper. (Ken will attest to that statement as will anyone who truly knows me) lol

How can I help?

Just keep posting that's a tremendous help. I enjoy reading and relating! No one I know around here does any kind of woodworking everyone does carpentry. It's nice just being able to discuss woodworking with others. When I talk to friends here they look at me like I'm nuts.

That I can do... I love to talk (got me in LOTS of trouble in school as a kid lol). But as for technique; please hollar and let me know what I can do to help as well as troubles. (Veering out of control, uncooperative router, etc.)

Barb, that message you got is really nice - and I fully agree to it. Having built my first (variant of a) router ski recently, I gave it a run today - and compared to your really good looking signs, I think, I made a nice looking piece for the fire-wood-bin :P Ok - first time using skis, not making a sign but something different (will add to that variant router ski thread in a moment), too agressive cuts, etc - so definitely nobody else to blame than me. It was loving what can be done - and cursing what I made wrong - and having a solid head and strong will - I will get back there and do it again - just slightly different, and hopefully a little better, too Thanks for sharing that message, and keep up your good work and especially post pictures from it Martin

Well thank you Martin. I didn't post it for compliments as much as for the laugh. Not at his trouble he's having as much as his cursing me (loud enough to where his wife is asking "who's Barb".). I laughed out loud at that. I ended up hopefully assisting him in what may have caused the problem.

In all seriousness I don't consider my work all that great. I think my designs are good enough but I've seen so many postings that make my cuts look like a school-aged child creation, that when I hear/see a post telling me I inspired them I'm completely humbled and want to assist in whatever way I can especially since I'm self-taught and if I can help a person avoid some of the headaches I had endured through learning on my own, then let me teach.

Thank you for the sentiments guys. Stick like I told Dusten, if its free hand routing that you can relate to its as simple as asking and whatever I can do to help I will gladly do so

Dusten, if you want to go from that "crazy" look to total awe and want, show them pictures of what can be done in our field. Before you know it, people will be asking "Dusten do you think you could make me a...."

Barb
When you inspire others that is a compliment sounds like you have lead another one down the path
