Default Wild, Wonderful, West Virginia

SWMBO and I are planning a trip to West Virginia in September and I'm looking for any "must see" destinations.

I've been to the Wheeling area several times(used to drive a tour bus) and that is our first destination. Spend a day or 2 there visiting some places SWMBO has expressed an interest in, and then??

We will be crossing in at Detroit, MI and probably heading across US250 thru Ohio into Wheeling,WV so any suggestions along that route are greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance

Brian

Brian,

we camp at Big Bend, a great place for camping and tubing on the South Branch of the Potomac River.

There are a lot of amazing things to see, the Seneca Rocks park, Smoke Hole canyon, even the drive down 220 is a great senic trip. If you like exploring caves, I still like the Virginia ones better, but I'm a little biased.

(If you haven't been to the Ford Museum in Detroit... budget 2 days for that!)

Thanks Doug. Not going to be camping... gave up on tenting and havn't convinced myself I need a trailer yet. Area looks interesting tho...

I've been to Henry Ford Museum lots of times.... only about 30 min from me, including border crossing time. Well worth the trip!!

On the way home stop at Tony Packo's in Toledo! Klinger on M*A*S*H* was right, they are great coney dogs.

You are of course welcome to bring back two packages of their hot dogs. Kroger's sells their chilli, hot dog sauce, pickles and peppers (sliced or relish) but not their dogs.

Dragons Tooth overlooking the Catawba Valley and Millers Cove in VA. is a beautiful place to see and not far from West Virginia.
