Default Copying/Downloading Photos of Projects/Jigs

Before the new photo presentation I used to download photos/projects of interest for my archives on "ideas" for future projects. I'm a visual person and this is how I formulate new projects. But with this new photo format I am unable to download photos. Used to just click on the photo and his copy. I did a search a while back and found a possible solution, but it didn't work and then I lost it and now can't find it again. I'd like to download photos so I can ignite my mind with ideas. I go to the file section on my computer I want and go through several photos until I gt an idea on what I want. Then I'd like to print that one or several out, take to the shop and start experimenting. This is especially true of "jig" projects. How do I download photos?? Or is there some new policy against it??

Hey, Ron; your question kind of threw me, I went and tried it on a thread pic and was able to copy and paste into Wordpad without a problem. HOWEVER, when you click on the thumbnail you then have to click on the full size image where it says something about 'original size'. When that pops up it allows you to copy it. Or at least I was able to on my comp. (Using Firefox).

Just what I do, but I copy it to Microsoft word (I just tried NotePad for Windows - same thing as Word). All I get is either the mouse marker moves one space or there is an empty box showing. ???? Maybe some setting in Word???
I can "save image as", but it is a whole file on the photo and surrounding black area. I want to insert it into Word, with several other photos, especially for an instructional file (ie: building a jig).

Works for me.
1) Choose your image - I clicked on Mike's Router Ski pic in the Jigs forum.
2) View original image
3) Right click on image and select "Save Image as"
4) Browse your file structure. Select the desired folder and "Save" it. In this case, I created a new folder in my "Jigs" folder named "Router Ski".
5) Navigate to that folder and the resulting pic should be located there for use in any application that allows .jpg format.

Note: I did a trial run. No problem inserting the picture into a WordPad blank file.

Windows 7, Firefox

Hope this helps.
Mike

I really don't want to "save image as" to a file, then copy from that file to paste into another file. Too many steps, too much time. I just tried using Internet Explorer - which I hate - but it worked perfectly. I copied then hit paste to a Word document and it went right to the Word document. Must be a setting in Firefox as that is my program of choice.

Not Firefox. Microsoft Word setting. Had to go into the settings, into Trust Center, and click on "Disable all macros without notifications".
Works perfect now.

Glad you figured it out. There is more than one way to skin a cat. That is the way I skin 'em. The pics are stored on a network drive that I can access from my laptop or desktop. I have never had any need to put them in a document.

Sometimes, I take my ipad out into the shop and work directly from the screen. :-)
