Angry Not even Summer yet....

...and it was already 39 outside today when I went to the Bank...

Looks like a long hot summer with bush fires on the side....

James today has been hot and the fires are still out of control, I live 50 miles, (see how I changed kilometers into miles for my American friends) anyway I live 60kilometers away from the big burns and today I pick up over 30 dead leaves that have been burned black from the heat of the fires, just laying in the yard on the grass, imagine that, they have traveled all the way here in the high winds, I am very sure that the news stories from the bush fires that surround Sydney have gone to the USA and it's true, it is hot out there today. I turn on the news here in Michigan USA and they are telling us about your fires. Take care and be safe.

Neville old buddy, according to the conversion 50 miles equals 80.4672 kilometers, not 60.

Regardless, I read about your brush fires every year. Bad thing. I think if I lived down there I'd have a very large lawn. But burning leaves would still present a large problem if you're in the path, no matter the size of your lawn. I suppose a fireproof roof, and an extensive sprinkler system might be a viable solution - but how many of us can afford something like that? Not so many I'm thinking.

You guys be careful, and be ready to move out at a moment's notice, if worse comes to worse. Keep essentials in your vehicle. And good luck.

You're too close for comfort, Neville! That would scare the bejesus outta me!

(60, 80 point whatever it is! who cares the exact Km! Too close whatever it is to our miles!) DAYUM!

Sorry, had to get that out.... My thoughts are with all of you over there in the upside down world *hugs*

James I did my share of whining this past summer (here) when you had warmer days than we did but I wouldn't trade you for 39C days and I've been in in the path of forest fires before, so I know how unsettling that can be. Unfortunately all we can do is wish you guys luck and hope for the best.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

OK' Theo It's my bad, I agree and admit freely that I guessed regarding my conversion, I was tired when I wrote that but I have had 5 hours and it's time to fess up, 50 miles is 80klms. the big problem with our fires is the moron Green lobby, they have gotten behind their own lunatic ideas and influenced the old Government to bring in regulations to only burn off the bush scrub every 8 years or so and that is far too long as in that time thousands if not millions of tons of humus and growth build up and when the dry hot weather comes, and the fires start and sometimes they start by the hand of a man, then they run at a very fast pace, you only have to look at the very violent footage to see how much fuel is being burned, it's really frightening to see and I have such sympathy for anyone caught close to them, the last time there was big fires out along the 'Bells Line of Road' (Bells Line is a very famous pioneer roadway that still is a major traffic road and it runs through the country side from Richmond to Lithgow, it cuts along and through the very heavily wooded areas and many many farms) that day then I was on the Bells road and out of the heavy smoke there came what looked like a 14 year old girl wearing jeans and a tee shirt and riding a horse bare back while leading other three other horses beside her, she looked like a hero who was determined to not lose her horses , there were a lot of Police around so I am sure today that she did save them, we are very resilient and careful, 200 house lost so far and no lives to the fires and I hope that it stays that way but our firefighters do get caught from time to time so like you I pray for them, me I live in Greater Sydney and this city is huge, not LA huge but there are over 5million persons here and the fires do not come close to the major city as they are out in the bush areas, our new Federal Government and State Government will change the back burning rules and do the burning in the winter months, and every 4 or five years, and these horrific fires will not be so bad, the big story in our press is all the Green Scare Mongers out there saying that the fires are the result of Climate Change, it's a complete lie and they should put their heads in a bucket out of the shame as we have had these huge fires for centuries and long before this Carbon lie ever started. Still thanks so much for verbalizing the best wishes that we know that we have from all of America, there are from time to time tragedies of this type in your homeland, and we hate to watch them. Neville
