Default Good Friday Morning

Good Morning everyone... coffee is on for this down-right cold morning-a whole whopping 32 when I got up-I think I'll go hibernate and live off my fat like a bear-someone wake me up when it's Spring lol

Ended up having to take my mom to the hospital Wednesday. As of yesterday afternoon, she'd had one blood transfusion and her hemoglobin was up to 9.8 from 7.7 the night before. Still no answer on the source of the culprit that knocked her hemoglobin down, but it's usually in the GI tract. So, hopefully this morning when I get there, they will have gotten the samples needed to send in and gotten some results. She was also supposed to have a heart ultrasound done because of an elevation in her blood that indicates heart problems. As well as the fluid they're telling me is still around her lungs. (Now her dr. has been telling me things are fine. I'm really starting to get upset at this point, and have told the hospital that I would like a reference to a geriatric dr. to move my mom to before she leaves the hospital.) Because of her fall, they ran a CT scan and found a collaborated amount of tissue that had calcified. Won't know anything about that till the neurosurgeon makes their rounds today. Gonna spend some time up there with her, but she wants sleep, so I'll stay for a bit, then off to the shop to see what else can be done to move things out of Beastie and into Bentley.

So, it seems I'll have another busy day-was so exhausted yesterday I was sleeping by 9:30 and didn't wake at all till around 4-then, of course I was up off n' on as usual till I crawled outta bed a little after 6. *ugh*

Have a wonderful Friday everyone. For those in warm, or tropical places, please send some warmth this way... dang I hate cold weather.

Good Morning Barb. 30 in Richmond - brrrrrrr!

Hearing of Mom brings back memories of times our four parents spent in hospitals. Waiting for test results and doctors. Praying all goes well for you and Mom.

Not a good way to start the day Barb. I hope that all goes well with your mom.

I send your mom all the good wibe I can.
It's always different to hear about somebody's mom or friend beeing in hospital than to have a conversation with my wife who earlier worked in ICU and now in KNF telling about her work shift ... I'm sorry that your mother is in hospital.

I send you Barb a basket full of tropical Finnish october air and high temperature's!! You haven't tryed a sauna? Don't beliwe what other nationalitys tell you about the sauna especialy not the Sweeds!!

Thank you.

Had a blood specialist come to mom's room while I was there this evening; he's worried about mom's platelets. He fears her bone marrow has stopped working/producing. Her numbers indicate a condition that if not detected soon enough can go to acute leukemia. Bone Marrow draw will be done Monday to find out which it is. In the meantime, he's had her transferred to the Oncology Floor where she'll be able to rest better and in the new part of the hospital where the rooms are supposed to be huge, very nice, and private. Also doing a B12 testing on her blood to rule that out... I swear I'm gonna go insane before this is over...

Both my parents are cancer survivors. My mom has had 4 separate bouts and rounds of treatments, each with going into remission. We didn't get the results of the latest round until 2 days ago. She's back into remission again. So I have an idea what you're going through.

My thoughts are with you and yours...

Thank you everyone. Mike if it turns out to be Acute Lukemia they said with my moms age (81 almost 82) they won't do the chemo because it's so radical and a high dosage they feel someone her age it would be too hard on her. She'll have the option of transfusions to make her comfortable but he's thinking it's the disorder not the cancer at this point. I'm hoping for a B12 deficiency (of course) but I've prepared myself for whatever the results come back as.
