Default Magnetic Wood Table

I am not sure which thread would be the most appropriate for this so...

I get a weekly email from Drool'd about all sorts of random nifty stuff people can buy. This week it had a link to a table made of wooden cubes that appear to float above each other. Below is a link to the manufacturer's website.

Interesting from a technical standpoint, Sonny. No desire here to have or make one!

As neat and nifty as I think this is, you would want a warning sign not to put any flash drives or memory cards, magnetic storage tapes etc. on this table unless you wanted to loose the contents.

Totally kewl idea but Richard made a valid point about electronic devices. That kewl idea would have no place in my home. Too many electronics and info stored in such to lose.

I didn't see any magnets ?? Just wire/nails holding the blocks apart.

Magnetism will not damage memory cards or flash drives. It will damage magnetic strips on credit cards, hard drives and storage tapes.

I showed it to my wife and she said "That doesn't look like a very useful table". I said "It's art". She said "Oh... well I guess it's OK art". haha

Very neat table and I promise you all that the blocks are not being held up by any air. NGM

It is definitely a conversation piece. Although, they still appear to be rather functional.

Agreed. Although, if they are shielded (like home stereo speakers) it may not be an issue.
