Just wondering who started the forum, when was it started, who created the web site and
what else was envolved in it's genesis. Who ever is responsible, I take my hat off to them.

It wasn't me Jerry.

Harry,
Doesn't look like I'm going to get an answer, maybe I have asked a question that I should not have asked.

I would not have been surprised however if you had been part of the plot.

Not at all, I'm certain that Mike will give you a complete answer when he tumbles out of bed. I spoke to him some hours ago and he was having a very bad dose of sinus trouble so give him time. In the meantime there are other long time members who may step in, there are no secrets involved Jerry.

Jerry...

Interesting question...A little looking around and here's what I can tell you...

The forum was founded in September of 2004 by Mark Rosendahl. Mark is Rick Rosendahl's son, Bob Rosendahls grandson. Bob and Rick Rosendahl founded the RouterWorkshop.net site. The Routerworkshop.net site was at the time a premiere router focused website that offered instructional video's and information as well the opportunity to purchase router specific products.
At the time of its founding, Mark was a part time web developer and full time law student. I believe Router Forums was created to compliment the Routerworkshop.net site. Intended to provide like minded router/woodworking enthusiasts a place to gather and share their ideas and thoughts. Mark ran the Forum up until about a year or so ago when the Forum was purchased sometime late in 2012. The new owners also have steak in several other premiere woodworking focused websites such as LumberJocks etc..
The first 3 registered members posting a introduction were:

Juice (9-10-2004), NewMontanaWorkshop (9-10-2004) Glenmore (9-10-2004). Of those three, Glenmore still remains active on occasion stopping in to say hello to many members he has befriended over the years. .

To this date, RouterForums remains the #1 router focused website in the world and continues to grow. Branching out into many other areas of the woodworking community.

Glenmore, who is a good friend of mine is very, very sick and he reckons that it's now only a matter of time. He amazes me every time we talk because he sounds so cheerful in spite of all his many health problems. Marlene also talks to him on occasions and we really feel for his loyal wife Nancy, she is amazing how she has coped for so many years.

Thumbs up

Harry...

Indeed a nice tribute to just how true friendships can be made via forums such as this.

You're spot on there Bill, It's amazing just how many true friendships I've made since joining routerforums, they are spread around the world, including two who live no more than a five minute walk from me.

I applaud both the founders of this site and all of the really great members who have so much knowledge and experience to share and do so willingly every day. I look forward to my daily emails and reading about the variety of topics raised every day. Truly an amazing website and members.
