Default I Feel So Much Safer Now...

In Canada the Canadian Standards Assoc. (CSA), similar to UL in the US, has been increasingly under attack for actions that private enterprise would find themselves in court for.
This is the latest salvo...

"In opening the meeting, CSA officials reminded the members present that any standard that they wanted could be developed for them and that CSA would sign off on it, provided that they paid money to CSA. Specifically, the CSA will sell standards for “$120,000 to $250,000” each. And standards of course, are included in hundreds of Canadian laws.
RestoreCSA readers, will recall that CSA also sells votes at legislative committees."

Well, I think everyone knows by now, that votes are always bought and sold.

If I could see it 50 years ago, I think everybody knows that everything.....has a price.

In other words, they are corrupt.
We built a power plant for DuPont NE of Toronto - I probably spent more time holding the CSA reps hand (figuratively, of course) along with wining and dining him then on the plant design. Nice guy but technically challenged. Now it makes a bit more sense

Sounds like the EPA. There was a blurb on public radio about a guy who wanted to build an oil refinery near Phoenix, AZ, if I recall the location. He had been waiting on the EPA for 10 years and hadn't turned a shovel full of dirt yet. It seems that some agencies have you by the ying-yang and take their sweet time about getting things done.

Good news, sort of:
http://www.restorecsa.com/news/artic...gement-seminar

At some point the Federal politicians are going to abandon their buddies at CSA and actually do something useful about cleaning out this den of th***es (anti-lawsuit effort there... )
Can't happen soon enough.
