Default Time Display on Threads

I'm sure it has no value as far as Woodworking goes, but have noticed the A.M. and P.M. times noted on many threads dont correspond with the dates announced. An Example would be, if I read a thread at 10A.M. on Feb 11th but it shows that thread was sent Feb 11th at 7:50pm, then it appears there is a time difference unexplained for some reason? Mabe I cant tell time. Just wondering?

Bob, I am wondering if the time difference is due to the location around the world of the poster.

For example, your post above is showing "Today, 08:55AM, but I will bet the ranch it is not yet 08:55am in the US....

*LOL* I'm seeing his post time as 04:55 PM...

it must be related to the time zone differences...

Exactly, maybe we should all check to see what time zone we have on the forum as our location......

Times shown for the posts are the local time they are posted.

Dave, it is the time shown on your PC. This means posts by others show up as the time on their PC.

...which is, when you think about it, pretty much pointless. That's just an observation, not a criticism. Perhaps Dave has a very valid point; time shown should be at the server?
Then a simple glance would indicate the sequence replies came in.

I thought it was because my friends Neville & James were clairvoyant and simply answer my questions BEFORE I ask them. WOW - what a letdown.

Not right, I think, Mike.

The time shown is the time 'in your location' that the post was made.

EG Your post is showing on MY PC as "Today, 03:06am"

This does not, however, answer the OP's question, which if I read properly (and the OP read the time correctly) was that

The post could not have been made 8 hrs AFTER he read it.....{eerie space time music}

Bob, I would check to see what time zone you are set in on the forum. This could be different to what time zone your PC time is set on....
