Default removing a post

How does a post get removed? for example if I posted something for sale and it got sold there would be no need to keep it on the post, so rather than keep unnecessary and incorrect (since it was sold) information on the web site it would seem to make sense to remove the post. If there is a way to remove the post, I have not been able to figure it out. Thanks

Hey Al...

Just drop a note to on the moderators, we can either remove the post or mark it as having been "SOLD"....

OR, if you are the originator of the thread, you can go into the "EDIT" feature, then "Go Advanced" and then in the drop down menu, you can
change the status of the sale...

Members may also have the option to "delete" a post by using the 'Edit" feature

Al, if you do sell something through the forums it is best not to delete it but mark it sold. This leaves a record of a successful sale which is useful if you post other items.

I have tried several times to work through the "EDIT" feature to change my posts to SOLD but to date have been unsuccessful in locating the correct tab to start the process. Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Jon..lets see if this will work..

go to your thread;

http://www.routerforums.com/woodwork...p-lubbock.html

In the lower right hand corner of your original post (post #1) click on the "Edit" option

Your original post should now appear within an edit screen: In the lower right hand corner of the edit screen, click on "Go Advanced"..

Now, there should be a drop down box located above the upper left corner of the dialogue box under 'title'. Options are:
For Sale
Wanted
Swap
Free
Found
Sold

Make your selection and click on "save changes"...
By clicking on "Sold",,,this should now identify your thread as having sold

Also be aware that you may not be able to delete the post if others have replied and turned it into a thread.......

Appreciate the straight forward instructions, but I can't locate an "Edit" option anywhere on that post.

It is the first post but the "EDIT" icon does not show up on my screen. I only see the TOP, REPLY WITH QUOTE and QUICK REPLY icons.

I also have a previous post for a FESTOOL jigsaw that has the same problem.

Thanks again for your assistance.

Jon

The option to edit expires 30 minutes after a post has been made. After that time if you need a change you will need to report the post and ask a moderator to make needed adjustments. In the case of a sold item you can reply to the thread that it is sold and then ask a moderator to close the thread.
