Default What a Terrible Tradegy

4 die as truck hits softball team's van in Okla. - LA Times

Our niece played on this team for the past two years. They were one of the final eight teams at the junior college world series last year.

She has since graduated.

I took her picture the day she signed her letter to play for them. I know the coach has to be devastated as well as the families of those who died.

I watched them play more than once.

Prayers for the team and families.

This would have been the week that I'd have finished chewing thru the restraints...

Brutal, Mike.
These sports team tragedies seem to happen way too often...and usually in Vans or buses.

I'm guessing that the tragedy will be on our local news. Softball is a BIG event up here in the Dakotas. Every year there is a McQuades Softball Tournament in town where teams from all over the country come to play.

Something similar happened here about 3 years ago when 4 members of a Grande Prairie, Alberta high school football team were killed by a drunk driver. They're still talking about it. It takes time for the pain of something like that to fade away. I really feel for the families and friends.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

Tragedies seem to be so much a part of life and they hurt like hell when we experience them. None of us are insulated from having to deal with them and knowing that others care does help a bit. We have had our share of grief too, and I sure do understand, and care.

Such a sad loss. I do not know how anyone can handle the loss of a child.

2 of my granddaughters went to high school with one of the girls.

Prayers to the families, friends, and continuities affected in this tragedy.
