Default Any clue as to what I was going to do?

I ran across this sketch of a design I made awhile back. And I have not a clue what I had in mind at the time. The pieces obviously fit together, but it is impossible to fit all three at once. When I sketch something up I use graph paper, which this is on. That lets me sketch whatever to scale, and can make life a lot easier. But this, I have not a clue what it was/is supposed to be for. Off to the right is a sketch of a cane handle, and I'm pretty sure that is not part of the whatever pieces.

Any thoughts on the matter? Useful thoughts that is. And that's the best picture I could get.

Gosh Theo, I had a good idea until you said the suggestion had to be "useful", that put my idea out of the running. Young people don't experience these probems like us seniors do huh?

The tangs on the lowest piece look like they were meant to fit in the holes in the second piece. I'm not sure what the top piece is for. Were you designing a home made Gripper?

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

So, how do you usually denote your design ideas, Theo? Does the "one, two, three" usually mean the order in which the parts are made, or the number of parts? If it is number of parts, I can see where the top piece and second pieces go together but still pondering on the the bottom one. I may be forced to make the parts and see what happens.

Apparently you haven't really needed it, whatever it was. Throw away the drawing and move on...

It's a puzzle alright.

I'm way too young to have senior moments. I am shooting for 140, so that means I am just now middle-aged.

Yeah, the 2d and 3d pieces seem to go together. Problem is, the 1st and 2d pieces also seem to go together. Either way, one piece is left over. Definitely not a homemade Gripper.

The pieces are labeled one, two, three. As far as I know, that just means the order they were drawn.

Toss a perfectly good design? Well, that's not happening. Not yet anyway, I'm going to ponder on it for awhile, and see if I can recall what I was thinking when I did it.

Nope, definitely not a steam engine base.

I've been pondering on a design to make some bed risers/lists, and thought that might be an early design, but that's not it. With my bad knees it's getting to be hard on them, getting out of bed and standing. With the lifts, I'll be able to just swing my legs out, and basically just slide forward a bit and when my feet drop down and hit the floor I'll pretty much be standing, with no need to lift my body at alll. I'll lift the bed high enough so when standing my rear will be about even with the top of the mattress.

Sorry Theo I was just messing with you . I read your profile and thought seeing as one of your interests was steam engines that maybe I'd take a shot at it , although I knew it was a long shot lol

Ok thinking out of the box , if you were to bend #2 into a U shape , then #1 would slide into the two slots and hold it in that position . And obviously #3 slides in the middle slot .
Does that bring back any memories lol ?

I hope you figure it out soon cause I'm going to loose sleep over it
