Default Shipping to UK

Hi Guys, any idea what's the best (low cost) way to ship to the UK from Michigan. I was quoted $79 to ship a small bandsaw stabilizer by Carter products, but it seems a little steep when the item is only $79.

I'm not sure which screen will come up for you as I've tried this before and it defaulted to where you start searching. International Price Calculator

Price varies according to size, weight, and level of service. The screen I hope the link takes you to is for the UK and Ireland for priority service. There is also an option shown for 1st Class. It takes longer but is usually quite a bit cheaper. The band stabilizer shouldn't be that large or that heavy so it should go 1st class for a reasonable price but it could take up to 6 weeks. I've had a few things I've bought from the UK take 4-5 weeks and 1st class from the US to Canada is usually 3-4 weeks and has taken 5 once or twice.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

On the time aspect... I've tracked some of my parts coming this way, and it seems like most of the time is spent in customs. I don't know why that is, but it sure is frustrating watching that status just sit there. It gets to and from customs very quickly!
