Default Saturday morning sawdust

This Saturday morning a few of us are going to make some sawdust in my overcrowded little shop. We will be installing a mounting plate in a table top, installing a router to the plate and giving it a test drive. We are going to look at a couple templates, talk about their design and build a plant stand or two. I will have a couple router tables ready for action. This will give people a chance to use other routers so they can comment on their likes and dislikes. Anybody in the Detroit area is welcome to stop by and can PM me for directions.

Looks good for tomorrow Mike, even the weather looks nice. Supposed to hit 76 by 3pm, and that's the time the thunderstorms are supposed to hit.

We had an almost perfect day working in the driveway. We started out by making a template to install Neal's (Oldnewbie) Oak Park mounting plate in the table he is building. In the first photo Neal works on the corner radius while Brian (BrianS) and Mike (AxlMyk) look on. In the second photo Neal is using the template to rout the opening in the table with a Porter Cable 690 router in the plunge base. The template is secured with double sided carpet tape. Photo three shows me getting ready to help Brian cool off after all the difficult supervison. Photo four shows Neal discussing the merits of having a first aid kit handy with Mike. Yes, laminate does have very sharp edges! Where is the Red Cross when you need them? Mike was kind enough to make copies of his plant stand leg template for us so there should be some more plant stand photos shortly. All in all a very pleasant day.

Here's a couple more pics..
First one: "You really screwed it up good that time, Neal".
Second one: Brian is saying to himself, "Man, this tummy makes a great arm rest..
You'll notice Mike is buried back in the garage..

Hi Mike

Looks like you all had a great day and a bit of fun at that..

It makes me recall a joke (how many people does it take to install a light bulb ?) How Many Wood Workers does it take to install a router base plate, looks like 4 will do

Hey, I'll have you know it's taken me years to get that in just the right shape to do that with.

Nice meeting you Mike and Neal.

Sorry I missed that gathering. Looks like a bachelor party without the strippers.
