OK; question...can you stop the keyboard from advancing after typing a character, so you can add an acute or tilde over top of the last character typed? On a normal Win keyboard I mean?
This sounds like it should be a simple BI task(?).

Can be done, takes a combination of keys. The special character must be typed whole, not just the accent mark. You need an ASKII chart of special characters to do it.

I'm thinking that might be my easiest solution, Tom. I just need to have the chart handy, eh?

Try here https://www.ascii-code.com/

Or here for foreign characters only: https://nature.berkeley.edu/ucce50/a...links/7int.htm

To obtain the international characters shown in the left column, you may use the ANSI codes (2nd column) or the ASCII codes (3rd column). To do so, first make sure your number lock is on in the numeric code pad. Then, while holding down the ALT key, type either the ANSI or the ASCII code. The fourth column shows the equivalent HTML code you will need when creating a Web page.

I have been slacking in the read'n dept. So I skipped over several pages.

Nothing to see here, just making a cutting board.
Carry on!

Good Christmas present. Do you have a wood brand with your name on it?

I forgot to note that ALT key has to be held down when the number code is entered.
