Default Opa

I have added another interest other than my woodshop. I have begun mentoring some very bright 2nd graders at our local Catholic school. At present we are working with fractions and introducing a bit of geometryand algebra. Pretty good for 2nd grade. I would like to make an abacus for each second grader and I would like to know if any members might have one or more of those old wooden bead car seat covers.
I could use the beads for the abaci. I'll need several of them I'm sure because I can foresee a need for at least 1200 beads for this current class. This will be their first personal computer. The abacus can be a great math teaching tool. If I get a response to this, I will try to get in contact with you and make mailing arrangements with each donor or you can send me a message at [email removed] I live in SD so closer states would be helpful with mailing costs. Thanks, Opa.

Hi Opa

If no one comes back with a old wooden beaded car seat cover you can get the beads at just about any hobby/craft store...

I made two of the abacus about a year or two ago..and they had all types of beads at the craft store....in many colors....
Some wooden dowels and some sticks you will have them done

I need to make 25 or more and each one takes 63 beads. That comes to 1575 beads. At craft store prices I would bankrupt myself.
