My ex was dropping the kids back off sunday and she said parts of I-30 was closed off because of paths of destruction when them twisters cross the interstate. And alot of the damaged hit west of Bass Pro Drive going from southwest to northeast. There are a alot of housing and apartments in that area. Alot of people was very lucky but 11 was not.

I'm thankful to hear you weren't in its path Marlin . Five miles , now that's just downright horrifying . It sure makes it seem more personal when you actually know the people who are in the midst of it .
I was watching CNN and thinking this was kind of an unusual time of the year for tornadoes ?

I donít always insulate , but when I do .
Ok ,I never insulate

Not really, Rick. It was in the 70's (F) before the cold front came through last night and we are subject to them at any time as long as the temp is warm enough to spawn the storms that produce them. That is why from here (North Texas) and up through Oklahoma and Kansas is called the "Tornado Belt". According to the news this morning, so far, there are 11 confirmed deaths from 9 confirmed tornadoes that occurred to the East and South East of Dallas. My heart and prayers go out to those who lost so much in this disaster.

We were at a daughters house in Murphy Texas, about 28 miles from home, for game night when they went through the area. Sirens kept going off, then silence, then going off again, some far off in the distance, some close by. The Tornado was south of us causing the most damage and taking the most lives. The Tornado Warning was canceled for the Murphy area but one was issued for for our home area. They kept showing on TV that the center of the tornado was on the ground 2 miles west our house. The tornado kept heading north from there. Then one more Tornado Warning for our home area as another cell capable of producing another Tornado went through. This was the last cell to clear the Dallas area so we headed home.

On the way home we were confronted with traffic diverted from Interstate 30 up 205 then west where several vehicles were thrown from the high ramps leading from the Interstate to George Bush Freeway. As we got closer to home it was dark because all the power was knocked out in the area. Then ahead we could see emergency vehicles, the cell phone range, a daughter relaying that one person was found dead in the convenience store and they were still searching there and several houses. Now we were upon the emergency vehicles, 12 to 15 with lights flashing at the turn off to our home. They were diverting traffic away from the damage area where they were still searching for missing people. We turned east toward our house 2 miles away and found we were with out power but pets were okay. My wife took our great granddaughter, the bird and 4 dogs back to town to stay with our oldest daughter. I stayed behind and checked to make sure the outside cats were okay and looked for damage. Phone range one more time, one more person found dead at the store.

We lost several shingles which can be replaced but so many others lost entire homes and loved ones. I pray the Lord watches over them and gives them comfort in this time of need
