Awesome . I had to think about it for a minute , but I got it .

I had an 81 Z28 with a four speed standard and loved it . I found it was twice the car than the auto version . . Also my 84 GMC was a standard .

The Z28

The 84

I used to think that, but the scum that broke into our house, took the keys and stole the car (among other things) could handle a 'stick shift'.......LOL

Ahhh...the good ole days...when "yankin' cogs" was a daily routine...

I would not let my daughters get their driver's license unless they learned to drive a stick...at the time that's all I had (from 1966 through 2002)...got easy in my old age and "shifted" to auto...

Admittedly, the auto transmissions have gotten better (2011 RAM Hemi latest)...

My next one would be a stick except I'm with Bill...be gettin' clutch foot real fast...

I've never bought a car that's not a stick, currently a 2010 Nissan Xterra (previously BMW 335, Subaru Outback, Ford Explorer, Ford Probe, and another Subaru). I'd just rather spend the $800-$1000 on something else, I drive my cars into the ground and don't care about resale. But it's getting harder and harder to find a stick. Fortunately, manual transmissions still dominate motorcycles :-)

It helps that I don't have to deal with traffic. Manuals are no fun in heavy traffic.

Rob the nice part about standards is that they rarely break down . Our automatics in our Ford vans are $10,000 for a rebuilt one . We just got our Ford Journeys tranny repaired , and although it's just a little one and it was still $8,000

Good point, Rick! However, although I've been fortunate so far not to have to replace a clutch, that may change with the Xterra. I've been towing with it a lot. I have to admit that for towing, an auto is better.
