Default Update on Mom In-Law

I'm sorry I haven't been 'round, gang. Two things have hindered my participation. Mostly lack of energy, (no idea why, just exhausted).

The doctors thought that ma's cancer had stemmed from the pancreas, but they were wrong. Looks like there's a spot on the liver, but is treatable, as are the spots they've found on her bones. The latest spot found was on her skull. She started radiation at the beginning of the week, and though she has many "spots" the prognosis from the oncologist is that everything they've found is treatable (as I told her it would be... optimism/faith is the key) and told ma she doesn't have an "amount of time" as she feared.

I want to thank you all for the prayers you put up for her... every healing thought and prayer counts and helps in her healing, and Ken and I appreciate it greatly.

Weather here in Michigan has definitely been odd this Winter; today we had March-like winds, with them right now roughly 40mph, which ripped a 3x5 foot section of shingles off our roof. Not a happy camper right now; the mindless, dim-witted, nimrod who roofed this place didn't use tar paper! So needless to say, looking at the shingles pointing upward, I was looking at bare wood, rather than tar paper, like I should have seen. So tomorrow will be spent getting together the shingles Ken said we have in the shed, and possibly buying a bundle, to patch the portion that has blown up/off until this summer, when the weather is a bit more palatable The lube job on the truck will have to wait until another day, and now, since that b* Mother Nature/Al Nino, or whatever is going on, decided to blow my roof off, my garage will have to wait another year, as we will be reroofing the house this summer. *sigh*

Lots of tar and nails Barb. It'll last til summer that way. That's good news about your mom.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

Great news about your Mom!!

or by imbeciles who really mean it.

Great news about your mother in law. Bad news about the roof. Ain't that the way life is? You said in your post optoism/faith is key. I'm hoping for your roof repair and work on your shop to some how get done.

I got word yesterday that my favorite niece, who has been receiving chemo treatments won't need any more. More good news in the world.

Hang in there Barb, we're all pulling for you and the family.

For 2 years after we bought this home I patched the shingles after every wind storm and finally got it stable. So this year I commissioned a complete replacement. It went very well but the roofers found 2 pieces of sheeting that were not even sitting on rafters. All in all probably not bad for a house built in 1973.
