Default Makita 1101 anyone?

I'm interested in getting more info about the Makita 1101 model router than i can find in my searches. Could anyone tell me about their experience with this router? How does it compare with similar mid-size routers. Thanks for your consideration.

I have a couple of Makita routers that I have used for years with no problems. Never used that one, I don't really consider a 2 1/4 hp to be midsize, that is a pretty good sized router especially to use hand held. You can certainly use it handheld I use a 3 1/4 at times.

That said it would be great if you plan to put it in a table later on and it should definitely do most anything you would expect to do with a router.

I have a bosch mrc23 router that is similar in size to the Makita 1101 and use it mostly in table as clay suggested. I do have a smaller makita rt0701 1.25 hP that I like and use it for a lot of handheld work.

The 1100's were modeled straight from the PC 690.
Same weight, diameter casting, subbase, hole pattern,
toggle switch, collet, flat motor top. Even had the same cheap stamped collet wrenches.
And the double helix up/down mechanism.
Its slop in finding depth was one of the worst.
One of the quietest VS tools but it ain't no 690.
