  About Me

  • My Shop
Some detailed information about my workshop.
    Power Tools
I will eventually get around to posting a list of most of my tools, but it will take awhile.
When I left my last abode, I had no choice but to either give away, or sell off very inexpensively, a whole collection of good tools.
Things like a nice 6" jointer, variable speed wood lathe and tools to go with it, 60 gallon compressor and many air tools, nice oscillating sander, table saw, paint guns, new bench grinder...8" wheels, metal cutting bandsaw, 10" tile saw and great blades, heavy duty drill press, nice heavy disc/48" belt sander, couple of miter saws, chainsaws, things that you accumulate over a long period of time. All sadly now gone.

Now I am starting to rebuild the collection. New Ridgid 10" table saw, an older King 14" bandsaw which belonged to the landlady's late husband, still in need of repair. New 26 gallon compressor, 30" sheet metal brake, Dillon Mk 3 gas welding outfit, new 250 amp Tig welder with stick and plasma cutting capability. Many electric drills, both corded and cordless. A 3 HP dust collector, 240 volt, so lots of power, and a nice heavy 3 HP shaper with several bits which I got from the same fellow when he had to close his cabinet making shop. New 13" 3 blade Ridgid thickness planer, 10" miter saw, a couple of compound sliding miter saws, couple of hand power planes...more later.
Bosch router table, Ridgid Oscillating edge belt sander, Leigh dovetail jig.
    My Shop
Shop under construction. It was allegedly an old garage before I got my hands on it. Very narrow at only 9 feet, but 30 feet long.

When I came here this area (the garage) was a gravel covered mess. There's no other word for it. I have since built concrete retaining walls on two sides and done a concrete floor, which in turn is covered with a P.T. framed plywood floor for comfort. The framing is yet to be done, perhaps later this year once things thaw out after the winter. I'll try to update this as time goes on.
  • Woodworker Information
    A few details about myself.
I've been messing about with wood for the past 60 years or so, finally starting to get the hang of it. I remember when I was a kid in school in Vancouver and I joined the local boys' club...Kiview I think it was called. They had a woodworking shop in the basement where I used to hang out all the time.
After about 6 months, one of the counselors asked me if I would mind teaching woodworking to the other kids. Me? I'm only 15. Well, he said, you seem to know what you're doing. So for the next year or so I did my best to help the other "kids", who were all older than me. Fun times back then.
    North Shuswap, B.C., Canada
Photography, writing, Japanese Gardens, a life long appreciation of music. Made my first guitar when I was 16 and started up a band with a couple of friends. Still have one 6 string and a couple of bass guitars and amps. No time to play any of them lately.
    Favorite Router
Currently have Bosch, Ridgid, Craftsman, DeWalt and Black & Decker routers.
    Woodworking Experience (Years)
I can't count that high. At least 60.
