    My Shop
My newest shop, built this year (June 2019) has earned the title of "She Shed." It's 16' x 24', And if I want to be technical, it's about the size of a 1 1/2 car garage. If it had a garage door, it would be called a garage. With the help of a master electrician I work with, I was able to get electricity out to the workshop, so I don't have to run on extension cords anymore. Slowly getting it insulated, starting with the ceiling. The heaters in there, each go up to 40,000 btu, which I recently found out, will heat 2,000 sq. ft. when both are running. Needless to say, I'm keeping toasty even on super cold days. **The second one was purchased by mistake when I thought the first one had died, when in fact, it just needed to be blown out, and a new tank of LP. ** (Whoops. Tank read I still had fuel. Guess not. *giggle*)
  • Woodworker Information
    A few details about myself.
    Biography
I started woodworking back around 97 or 98 when we couldn't afford a sign for our campsite up north. So, my husband bought me a $35 rotary tool, I sat down at my computer, and designed a sign for our campsite. I went on to make cork boards, and other projects, when I found a scroll saw forum in a chat area I frequented.

I was instantly hooked, and began scrolling. I got pattern after pattern (I now have a collection of patterns that my husband groans at when he sees it lol) through my forum of free scroll saw patterns, and magazine after magazine of scroll saw patterns, as well.

In August 2011, I decided to try my hand at routing. Another instant love. I now do custom wood signs for outdoor and indoor decor. I was invited to a local trade center, but circumstances as they were, I couldn't go out there. Currently, I do signs as I see them, and make them for others as I'm asked.
    Location
    Michigan (for now)
    Interests
I Crochet, knit, bake, quilt, and do desktop designing (I create a lot of my wood patterns on my laptop then transfer to the wood for custom signs). I currently do mostly routing (sign creation is a passion of mine - I love to create them on my laptop then to see them come alive on wood is just amazing.) I use my scrollsaw to give shape to my signs (I don't do anything "standard" which drives my husband mad when we need something, and I find nothing I like; I always have to modify it, but he loves it when I'm creating & the finished product lol). I also enjoy scrolling, though I haven't done it lately. I have a stack of scroll patterns from a former scroll group I belonged to that I completely forgot about until a friend needed a pattern made. Oy vey what a project that was to go through that huge stack of books, 3" notebooks, and paper patterns... My next endeaver will be the lathe. A gentleman who is part of a group has invited me, and my other half and I plan on joining.
    Favorite Router
I had a "Strategy" spin saw/trim router that I found at a flea market, and had been using it the most. It's light weight body makes it easy to hold up with one hand while I check my progress. Of the routers I now have, I have to say my DeWalt Trim Router is my favorite. It's as light weight as I'm gonna get, and it's easy to use. I use my full size routers for trimming off the edges of my boards.
