  About Me

  • My Shop
Some detailed information about my workshop.
    Power Tools
Am setting up a router table. Have miter saw, electric & portable drills, table top drill press, belt sander, 3-1/2" hand held grinder, metal hand held saw, jig saw, circular saw, and I probably overlooked something.

In Chicago, have Ryobi Table saw, DeWalt Miter Saw, Hitachi 3+ HP router, Ryobi 1 HP router, Bosch hammer drill, porter Cable laminate trimmer, reciprocating saw, jig saw, saber saw, Ryobi planer, bench grinder, and who knows what else.
    My Shop
My shop now consists of an old bathroom vanity cabinet and an 18" kitchen cabinet with a hollow core door stretched across them. Have some stainless steel shelves for storage. Pretty meager but it tickles me to get out there and try to do something. So far I have sanded and refinished some hollow core doors for the house. I want to do some actual woodworking and build some finger joint and dovetail boxes, clocks, a table bench for the visiting children iin the dining room, a video cassette case for my vintage VCR tapes, a shelf to go over my printer in the office, a platform to use my laptop while lying in bed, etc. I practically live in my bed these days. Have difficulty breathing, etc.
  • Woodworker Information
    A few details about myself.
    Biography
Retired & Disabled. Career was in Respiratory Therapy. Hobby was home remodeling. Did some woodworking as a boy. Have a passion for it now but the spirit is willing and the flesh is weak. I cannot stand without supports. I am hoping to find a way to use a router table and table saw, etc. Most of my tools are stored in my hometown of Chicago. Am hoping to have them moved here if I can make space for them in my one car garage. Can no longer drive and have sold my car, so unheated garage is free to use as a workshop/storage space. I have a propane heater in the garage but am afraid to make sawdust with the heater turned on.
    Location
    Sikeston, Missouri
    Interests
I love computers, photography, woodworking and bible study not necessarily in that order. There seems to be a cycle to my interests.
    Favorite Router
I have a large 3+ HP Hitachi, a 1 HP Ryobi, the DeWalt 611 and 618 model routers. Hitachi & Ryobi are up in Chicago. DeWalts are here with me. Hope to start using them soon. Am working on setting up a router table now.
    Woodworking Experience (Years)
My total woodshop type experience probably equals 6 months.
