About Me
- My Shop
Some detailed information about my workshop.
- Power Tools
- Routers - Millers Falls 7900 (Yep, my router is a year or two older than I am!)
Radial Arm Saw - Craftsman 113.197111 (10 in./2.5 HP)
Table Saw 1 - Ryobi BT3100 w/RT Extension Set up.
Table Saw 2 - Ryobi RTS20 - (Generic 10" Cheapo Unit, but functional)
Scroll Saw - Ryobi SC164VS - (Blade changes are not quick, but it does just fine with the cutting)
Drill Press - Ryobi DP121L
Circular Saw - Skil 5380
Reciprocating Saw - Ryobi RJ165VK
Sabre Saw
Miter/Chop Saw - Craftsman
Sander
Chicago Rotary Tool
Zip Saw - My Shop
- I am trying to optimize a 12' x 16' Garage for use as both a warehouse and a wood shop.
Lack of space doesn't allow me to leave a table set up in a way that I can just walk up to it and use it when the urge hits. Once or twice a week I set up one of my 3 tables in the driveway (if it isn't raining!) and make some sawdust.Ultimately I intend to build an outbuilding to serve as the shop.
I want to get a thickness planer, belt sander, band saw and a lathe. Given that a sander and lathe are on the list, I have some interest in a Shop Smith type multi function unit, though I understand they are weak performers as a lathe.
- Woodworker Information
A few details about myself.
- Biography
- I have spent most my life working in Computer Networking and Telecommunications.
During my school years, three years of metal shop with a semester each of woodshop, plastics and electronics gave me a 'foundation' in the 'trades & crafts'.
After high school a hitch in the US Navy led me further into the realm of communications & electronics.
In the spring of 2011 I moved my 'home office' from a hotel in downtown Los Angeles to my brother's house in Arlington, WA. This relocation allowed me to begin the process of setting up a 'crafting shop' of my own design and for my own purposes. - Location
- Arlington, WA
- Interests
- For years, the website I visit most often has been Wikipedia. Over the last six months, I shifted to spending more time here than the rest of the leisure sites combined.
- Favorite Router
- I have 2 Millers Falls 7900's and a Craftsman 135.17508 electric routers that I use off and on.
15 minutes with an electric router approaches my daily limit for noise, so I have built up a collection of planes that let me do many of the cuts that are also frequently done with routers. - Woodworking Experience (Years)
- Off and on 30+ years. Intense and Focused - 1 year.
