Talking Yup, It's another newbie

Hi there router folks. My name is Jim S. I love doing woodworking. I mostly do flatwork (boxes, shelves and cabinets). I also do woodturning. Ie; pens, bowls, knobs for cabinets and just about whatever else I think that I need.

Now I have become re-fasinated with routers. I have long thought that a router is mostly under used. After some research (youtube) I am convinced that I need to learn how to use this tool and use it well.

I live in Richmond VA, am almost 80 and I look forward to learning all that I possibly can from you folks.

With that said, let's make some virtual sawdust!

Hello Jim (aka N/A) and welcome to the forums...

About your desire to learn... We can help as we have put together some light reading for you...
As in, we've put some helpful information together at this here link to help you get up and running in the world of routers... We hope it to be useful to you... Enjoy...
Do take some time and read the safety PDF's... PLEASE!!!
Blood and trips to the ER, we find, are very annoying... Not to mention – expensive...

This would have been the week that I'd have finished chewing thru the restraints...
If only new layers hadn't been added....

Stick....

Welcome to the forum, Jim! Add your first name to your profile to clear the N/a in the side panel. Add your location, as well.

We do like photos so show us your shop, tools, projects - pens, etc. whenever you're ready. What sort of woodworking are you planning or doing with that router?

The router has powers we can only imagine - but requires much respect as well. Read up on all the safety and operational docs Stick sent you. I just posted another quip on the Safety First thread. You can't be too careful!

Welcome and show us what you've done, Jim!

I read all of the safety information mentioned in your "at this here link" when I checked out this forum.
I wish that similar information was available when I got my first saw.

My fingers and I all say thanks!
