New Member Introduction
I live in northern California, and our property is plagued by something called "Sudden Oak Death Syndrome". Thousands of tan oaks have died on our property, as well as the entire county. I took the straightest trunks from some of these trees and milled them into 1 1/4" x 6" lumber. The lumber is similar to Western Red Oak. I have quite a large pile of this stuff in the barn, and consequently bought a couple of routers to start working on them. One is a Porter-Cable model 7519 with soft start. This router has one speed, 21,000 rpm. I discovered that a router speed controller won't work with this soft start router. I also saw in a Google search that you folks might have some way of disabling the soft start feature. I hope that I can dig up this information, and thanks for such a great forum!
