Hi from Chapel Hill, North Carolina!
I consider myself a complete woodworking newbie for all practical purposes (watching my dad 30 years ago doesn't count, I guess).
I just bought a new house and thought I'd make as much as possible myself (bookcases, cabinets, tables, gadgets, etc.), so I embarked on this new hobby.
The first thing I built using my newly acquired circular saw was a work table using Finley's 2x4 kit... As you can see, I'm working my way up, slowly, all the way from the bottom
In the meantime, I have made a shoe cabinet and a small tool cabinet for the garage (pocket holes; I didn't have my router yet at that time). Next were a big drawer divider, a monitor stand and a small box (rabbets, grooves, dados) as an introduction into my new router (Bosch 1617EVSPK).
The next thing I will make is a mobile work table that I can move out of the garage. I have very little space, certainly not enough to have decent dust collection, so I work outside whenever I can. No room for a table saw, planer & jointer. I'll have to find a way to get milled boards when I am ready to move past plywood and precut stock.
I am thinking of a modular design with a torsion-box base, such as this one:
(remove the quotation marks if you want to take a look; I'm not allowed to post URLs yet - Oops, already violated forum rules with my very first post
I don't think I'm ready to build my own router table top and fence just yet. I'll probably wait for a 20%-off coupon and get the Rockler package.
Well, I'd like to say thanks already as I am sure that I'll learn a lot on this forum to progress at a steady pace.
Looking forward to making a lot of new friends!
