Default saying thanks for help

Hello,
I am new here and have received some really good help. I was wondering how saying thanks is handled here. On two forums I belong to it is not advised because it eats up a lot of space and everyone on the forum gets an email of it. What is the policy here. I always say thanks when I am helped and would like to continue it
thanks for the help
Frank

btw.... thanks to you as well for being a great member and the kind we like to have.
