Default My interests

I have a cnc router designed around a 1/4" handrouter, with a custom open-arm gantry design. the table is approx 18x24x6, and I a looking to improve the design, and also work on a 'hardware' store design router that has a table of approx 9"x12"x3" with deflections of nor more than .001" using a small router motor and no larger than 1/4" diameter tool cutting mostly wood and some plastic.

OK... I have filled out the personal info section. BTW, I am currently working on the benefits / risks in using sliding element bearings (UHMW blocks), vs ball bearings (skate wheels on pipe) for the most rigid system.

My main goal is to be able to spread out the loads and stresses to reduce machine deflection as much as possible. At the same time, design a system that can be made by high school students using normal 'wood shop' equipment.
