Default Hi from ShazL

Hi Everyone!

I stumbled upon this site after looking for information about my brand new ryobi ERT241200 1200W router. (There was information in one of the forums-gotta love google )

I have never used a router before, never really used any type of wood working equipment.

I have recently started viking re-enactment, so I needed to make all kinds of wooden products to use. One of the members in our club is great at woodwork, so he is going to teach me - I can't rely on other people doing everything for me!

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Thanks for the welcome Tom!

I know its going to be an uphill battle for me. I have (finally) unpacked my router from its box, now to figure out all the bits to go with it.

I have a small advantage with the router taking the 12.7mm and 6.35mm bits (1/2in & 1/4 in), just by changing the collet size.

Hello ShazL, this site is fantastic. I am new to the forum and new to wood working with a router. I picked up a used Porter Cable fixed router and table. I am in the process of picking up some 1/2 " shank bits on ebay.
I can't wait to start using the tools to build up0on an existing fireplace mantle my wife found. It is a nice ornate piece. I will post pictures of the before and after as I start the project.
