Default Hello from Tennessee

Greetings to all;

I'm a weekend carpenter/plumber/electrician/gardener/jack of all trades and master of none who's recently decided to build a rolling cabinet for his Christmas present (a Jet benchtop drill press). I found a set of plans that called for making dado's and rabbet joints, so I dusted off my plunge router, and went looking on the net for tips, tricks, and ideas, and here I am. I look forward to learning a lot, and hopefully contributing when and where I can.

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum
I just built one of those for myself. Sorta made my own plans though. Wasn't to fancy, just some half-lapped 2x4's for the base, 2x4's for the uprights, half-lapped 1x4's for the top frame and covered with 3/4 OSB. Mostly leftover stuff. Put a couple of drawers in and called good. Not exactly shop furniture but solid.
Be interested in hearing about what you have in mind.

The problem with experience is I usually get it immediately after I need it.

Thanks to you and Dr. Zook for the welcome. The plans I found were for a stand to be used with a floor model drill press, but I modified them a bit to use it for a benchtop model. Made of 3/4 plywood, rabbeted joints top and bottom, one drawer with a inner tray, and an adjustable shelf below the drawer. Plans called for birch plywood, but I used regular pine plywood. What I liked most about this particular stand was that it incorporates two sliding panels (one on either side of the cabinet) as material supports on either side of the table. Now if the weather will cooperate so I can get it finished!
