Smile new member

I joined to try to help a friend with his router.It,s a Hitachi M12V.
I think is speed control is gone.I am a retired electrician.

Hi LittleJim:

Those speed controls are pretty robust but they do get fried when the motor is overloaded too often.

Got a piano? Turn on the router with the speed control set at "5" and it should give you an "A" above "middle C." Turn down the speed control to "1" and it should give you a "B flat" below "middle C" -- well, sort of. If all you get is a single tone, check the model number of the router. It may be M12VC, M12VS in which case you may have a single speed router. In that case, I don't know if you can retrofit the speed control. I'm doubting it, too many changes.

HITACHI Power Tools: Home look for the M12V, then parts blowup. The VC and VS versions are quite old and I've not seen parts diagrams for them.
