Default Please give me some feedback

Hello to all. I am new to the forum. My name is Jamie. I have been looking trough this forum for about the last hour or so and am happy to have discovered a place where so many people can share information and experiences on one common subject. I hope no one minds if I am more of a listener than a talker snce my routing experience is very limited. That is to say that I have done only simple projects like edge decorating.

Which brings me to my reason for visiting today.....
1. My wife wold like for me to make new cabinet doors. It doesn't seem too advanced but there arre soooooo many choices for rail and stile bits. I am open to any suggestions anyone may have based on their experiences.

2. My only router is a six year old Ryobi R161 with a 1/4 inch collet. Will this be enough to do the job? I notice that almost all rail and stile sets come with 1/2 inch shanks. I plan to use 3/4 inch MDF as my stock. Any help here would also be greatly appreciated.

Again, I am certainly open to entertaining ideas and all advice is appreciated.

Hi Jamie

You can do it with your Ryobi router but it may take more than one pass of the router bit(s),stick with the standard router bit profile.
I would suggest you buy two sets, MDF is hard on router bits, set one up for the cope cut and one for the bread cut..and you have two for the panel cuts..
