Default Newbe says Hi

Yup, I'm a newbe. I don't even know what I don't even know what I don't even know, so you can count on me to be respectful.

Once I know what I don't even know, then I'll get frisky.

Found the forums while fruitlessly searching for an operator's manual.

I bought a used router on eBay. It arrived D.O.A., but I did find a manual online. Didn't matter, because it was D.O.A.

I bought another used router on eBay, a Ryobi RE 175 Variable Speed Plunge Router. At least it will spin up. No operator's manual. And I can't find one online. I think I'm trying to wear out Google, Yahoo, Ask, Bing, Dogpile, etc. Finally emailed Ryobi for help, and I have a CSR number to try tomorrow. This thing doesn't appear to be very old, so there's got to be some info. available on how to do the really simple stuff, like adjust the depth, use the plunge feature, change collets 1/4 to 1/2 and back, use the router with a router table, etc. I can guess on a lot of this stuff, but I have no confidence in my ability to train myself with no reference materials.

So, if you folks don't mind I'll try to pick your brains.

There you have it. My sad little story and my primary motivation.

Thanks for the welcome.

Small update. I may be closing in on some answers about my new old router. I called Ryobi's CSR number, 800-525-2579, and learned that my RE 175 was made in 2005 and that they will send me an operator's manual by mail. Should get it early next week.

Well, alrighty, then!
