Default New to forum and new to routing

Hello all;
Just wanted to introduce myself; I finally bought myself a router, a little Bosch Colt variable speed for small projects. The first one I wanted to try was building a 12" extension speaker cabinet with a slanted front for a guitar amp. I was thinking of using birch ply and wanted some advice on what sort of joints to make that would be strong and look good yet easy for a beginner such as myself. Will also be cutting a hole for the speaker and can't decide on a circle cutting guide that will work well with the Colt
Any advice would be appreciated, and thanks very much in advance for your time.
