Default Just Introducing myself to all

Hi everyone, my name is Altman van der Westhuizen. I live in South Africa, Pretoria, Lyttelton Manor.

I am new to woodworking and to be honest I remember woodworking to be my worst and most stressful subject at school. Of course back then we had to do projects and the only tool we were given was a axe and some sharp rocks. Well that is not entirely true, but many a day my back side convinced me that those were the tools we had to work with.

Currently I manage a small security company, which is stressful. Then I rediscovered a very good physiatrist and his name is Dr. Woodwork. I spend all of my free time with him, and for two very good reasons . 1. When I am with him he listens to everything I have to say, which in turn has a very calming effect on me and helps me to think clearly. I guess it is because he never answers me back with clever nonsensical answers. All he does is allow to work. 2. He allows me to create something with my eyes, soul, hands and everything I have available, not complaining about how crude or crooked. Every time he compliments me giving me self satisfaction, then gently send me back to the drawing board to learn from my mistakes. Well that is enough rambling.

I am almost 50 and I truly enjoy the fact that I can learn not only from Dr. Woodworker and my mistakes, but that I can learn from other peoples experiences and expertise.

Thank you for welcoming me to your forum.

Greetings Altman and welcome to the router forum. Thank you for joining us, and remember to have fun, build well and above all be safe.

I find woodworking to be very stress releaving-----well most of the time-----OK sometimes it adds to the stress, but in a good way.
