Default staining before gluing

I just finished a wine cabinet for my daughter and instead of finish nailing glass stops for the glass panels can i just glue them in place, the project is already stained with a polyurathane stain?

2 things to think about. First, depending on which glue you had in mind, you may have adhesion problems with it bonding to the poly. Second, if you do get a good bond, there may be a problem removing the stops if you ever need to replace the glass.

I recommend staying with the tried and true method of nailing them.

BTW... welcome to the Router Forums!

Greetings and welcome to the router forum. Thank you for joining us, and remember to have fun, build well and above all be safe.

Ditto what Bob says. I have seen situations where gluing was attempted after finish was applied, "Tight Bond III" over polyurethane, it didn't work well. There may be some that will hold so I will be interested in the replies also.
