Hello, I am a newbie to this site seeking a little kick start to make expensive sawdust less expensive. I have been making expensive metal shavings for about 50 years and what wood working I've done has been in my machine shop, not the best environment. I have repurposed a 10' bench, mounting my 10" and 12" radial arm saws and am in the process of adding a router table on one end. It has Rockler fences the entire length so I have the ability to use stops, featherboards and hold downs on the same plane for the entire length of the bench. The router table is from a repurposed table saw with a very nice fence that I am facing with the Rockler retrofit fence faces. I had to do all of this so I can start construction of a proper cabinetmakers bench. This is like farming, you can't do anything without doing something else first.

Sometimes that's true. After a number of years of moving machines around and running extension cords I decided to re-do the shop properly. It took six weeks to 2 months and lots of dirty looks from the wife who's to-do list wasn't getting done. In the end it was worth it. Lots of routing like that too. You can't do the job you need done until you build a jig first. For me it's part of the fun.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.
