Hello from Ireland
Well with the state of our economy here in Ireland currently it seems to be a good idea to try and make some of the things we would like for our home ourselves. We only moved in last year so cash is in low supply in general…
Trying to recycle the old 1980s kitchen is going well. The carcasses are in decent condition so we have been able to rearrange some to make a dining area. Got a router for my birthday and made some MDF panelling to close it in and it looks really good. Just vertical groves all very simple but effective. Wife has promised to paint it…
Next job is to try to make a bunch of MDF kitchen cabinet doors and spray paint them. Made the prototype last week and it looks good too. Its not hard to improve on what’s there. Have lots of questions on the painting aspect, not sure if they belong here but for the moment that’s down the road. My brother is a panel beater, so hoping he might give me some pointers. Finding the correct paint is very confusing… I’m sure it will make sense as we go.
One question that might be relevant, I notice the router I got has a bit of play in the vertical guides. When you lock the height and put pressure on the opposite side you can see slight movement of the bit. Its not enough to make any real difference to the work I hope to do, but was wondering if I should consider it a fault and return to the shop… It is a lowish end quarter inch model for DIY so I guess you get what you pay for.
Anyway hope I can contribute something too…. I can post some pics of the doors when I have my 10 post limit out of the way.
