Welcome to the forum young man. In spite of you living in Greece and having a Greek name, the way that you express yourself makes me wonder if you were born in an English speaking country. That out of the way, welcome to probably the most knowledgeable forum around where all your routing questions will be answered promptly. Of course routing isn't the only aspect of woodworking to be found here, there are sections covering the full spectrum, and we are generally a very friendly bunch with diverse backgrounds.

Thanks to all of you, it is really a warm welcome. I am very curious to see what emotions my ideas will evoke, and hopefully get a few workable answers to my questions.

harrysin, your guess is not far from the truth; I grew up in a half-greek half-american high school, and later on I worked in the UK for 5 years. It is a pleasure to see that many aspects of woodworking are covered here, as my questions go far and beyond routing.

papawd, what are safe habits? there is a lot to discuss here !!! Is there a forum for safety issues ? I look after a lot of injuries - as a matter of fact, I am about to operate on a nasty hand of a carpenter who took it along with the wood through the tablesaw. Keep me posted, as I find a lot of difference between my beliefs as a surgeon and my practices as a carpenter - I always wonder what I can do more.

Best wishes to you all.

Welcome to the Router Forum Doctor Dimitri! I guess by now you're familiar with both systems of measure "British" and "Metric" <haha>. It will be great having you as a comember with many thousands of others. You will find an amazing array of very helpful people to bounce ideas off of. Hopefully we can be of help to you and conversely I am certain that you will have some helpful and interesting perspectives! Interestingly, I would venture to guess that router injuries are always messy and I've noticed that with table saws and band saws there is at least something on the floor that can be reattached! With the router injuries I am personally familiar with, there has been only "soup" left on the floor. I've had my share of injuries in woodworking and have had slight cuts with many tools - but now I am a lot older and a little wiser. You may find it interesting that my two worst woodworking injuries were both using sanders! OPG3
