Default Post #1 from new member - be safe

Gotta start somewhere so here is wishing you all a good day and stay safe.

Little story want to tell you about safe. I lent a small Makita router to a friend and it has no guard around the collet, not sure if it comes with one and I bought it at a garage sale years ago. Any how he is using it and gets his thumb jambed in between the collet and the inside frame. He tells me he stopped the router from its rotation. Nothing broken but did considerable damage buy crushing his thumb.
This happen about a year ago and still bothers him and wonder if it will ever heal properly.

G’day

Welcome to the router forum.

Thank you for joining us, Gary.

Unfortunately, these sorts of injuries seem to happen more that they should.

I would not like to try and stop my router with my thumb.........
