Question Plantation shutters

Hi
Seriously thinking of attempting making plantation shutters. Looking for plans or videos and any helpful advice.

One look at the sheer number of holes in one of those templates and my brain was lost in space trying to picture how they could all have their own place in the process. This one gets filed under 'too intimidating to try' for now. Of course the fact that it was bookmarked and filed is a clear sign I have an interest......why, some might wonder......

Wood stuff with moving parts is cool!

Greetings Robbie!

Welcome to The Router Forums!

This is a great place to find info on routers and all things wood-working.

Here's hoping that you find the info you need to create the shutters and of course that you have the time to share the projects details with the masses here on the forums.

Hi

The one jig with just the slots is for the 1 1/4" fixed type the other one will do all 3 types up to 2 1/2" size, all the holes are needed,a real simple jig once you see the video how to use it..the hard park for most shutters ,is to hook up the rod to move the slat parts but the jig makes that a easy job with the little metal clips..

shutters are not just for windows they can be used on cabinet doors, etc. and yes you can use 3/4" thick stock for the frame, I made one out of some 3/4" x 1 1/4" MDF just for kicks..

Rockler sells a jig set that is very simple to use. Go to Rockler.com and find plantation shutter (video maybe) and they'll have info. Highly suggest it due to the repetition and precision nessary.
