Default chainsaw carver at 13 gifts

Hello to the users of the router fourm. Iam a 62 yr. old male in good health. I enjoy chainsaw carving , hand carving ,woodworking making signs. Always been interested in any kind of artistic expression. Iam new to using the router with very little experience. I have made 5 signs with a router. The the last sign was about 40 inches long by 17 inches. I did the lettering in old english, with a spruce tree on each end. I bordered the trees with a window shape , to give the effect of looking out at the trees. To an experienced router user this is probably all old hat, but to me it was a giant leap into this craft. I started this project with the intent of doing spruce tree silloettes and ended up carving them.I have never been sure how I stack up as an artist. I always hear praise from others but never took it serious till I got involved with this last project. I'm open minded to cirtiques that are construtive . Always interested in learning as much as I can about this craft. Larry Engleman

Greetings Larry,

Welcome to The Router Forums. On the topic of chainsaw carving, I encountered a statue of a lumberjack recently, that quite possibly was carved with a chain saw. While attending a school play in Darrington, WA, this giant of a man was standing guard just inside the front door & armed with a large two man pull saw!.

I rarely encounter things in public that put me to napping pictures, but this guy sure did!
