I think a Reuleaux triangle is what you're after. I've heard of drill bits using this principle but I've never seen one.

This is a site I found to help you, I hope. It explains a bit about the "Reuleaux Triangle" as per it's use in drilling square holes. You might also try to set up a mortise drilling system to achive your goal .

Rockler makes a handled chisel for squaring out mortices that have been drilled and they are on sale. Mortise Chisel Handle (Chisels not Included) - Rockler Woodworking Tools

However, if you expect a good fit, you still need to drill the holes with a drill press and if you have a drill press then you might as well buy the set Bob showed pictures of. I got a Delta set for my Delta drill press for about $65 at a woodworking show.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.
