Default steve's introduction

Last year I started working with a trim carpenter who tught me a lot about the trade. Work was slow so he asked me to work over the weekend to help a friend of his who was a roofer, they had o tear off a flat roof and replace it with TPO a white rubber based material. Any way I worked 12 hours on both sat.and Sun., I returned on Monday, started working at 7:30 am at noon we broke for lunch. keep in mind I had been drinking water all morning, that afternoon I continued with the water and gatoraid. At 5:30 I was walking across the roof and passed out. the guys working with me told me to go on home so I drove myself home about 18 miles. When I got home I took a cold shower and my wife called 911 and I was taken to the hospital. I stayed in the hosptal 4 days having fluides pumped into me. That waslast August and I haven't been able to work since. A heat stroke can be very serious. My blood presure was 32 over 60 when I arrived at the hospital. So please make sure that you always drink pleanty of water when working in the heat. I had drank 12 bottles of water and three large gatoraides and that still was not enough. The heat can be very dangerous, so be carefull out the my friends, stay cool and drink alot of water.

And take salt pills...or otherwise balance your electrolytes. Drinking too much water under those conditions is as bad as not drinking enough!
