Default Craftsman router 328.17541

Good Morning:

I damaged the threads on the collette holder on the router. You could not remove the bits after tightening the nut.

Is this router worth repair? It has a soft start and seems to be plenty powerful for my use. I bought it off a discount table at local Sears store. It takes 1/4 and 1/2 inch collettes.

Any help appreciated.

Steve

If it is the collet nut that is damaged, it is 2.47 + shipping and available here..

If it is the shaft that is damaged, the rotor(armature) is 16.98 and on backorder at this time!

I guess it depends on your comfort in doing the repair in the case of the rotor. Probably not worth paying someone else to repair!

Hope this helps!

you can get that model on sale for about $85.00. If you can do the repairs yourself, it is probably worth repairing; if you can't repair it yourself, I would buy the new one.

Thanks to all of you for the replies.

I can not find any indication of this reply being posted on the forum. Computers are not my bag.
