Default Detroit,MI

I live within 30 minutes of Downtown Detroit and the Detroit River. Winsdor is just a bridge or if you will a tunnel away.

I am a little over an hour North in the town of Swartz Creek (between Flint and Lansing). I am just learning a bit about woodworking as a hobby. My main interests are in making jigs and wooden machines. I am just completing a "Copycarver" and a "pantograph with router".
Neither of those machines are my design, however I am in the process of designing a jig to duplicate, and design, 'tone boards' for duck calls.
I also have a prototype for a jig to make 'dishing hammers' for people who make medieval armor.

Detroit's a little too far for me but I'm from Michigan. Fenton, just south of Flint.

What kind of jigs and wood machines. I have access to woodsmith, shop notes wood magazine and Finewoodworking magazines. If you let me know specifically what yo are up to, I can take a peek in the magazines mentioned.

One of the nice things about the forums is how it brings people together. I think it would be fun to make a group trip to The Winfield Collection. Wood Plans, Full-size Woodcraft Patterns and Supplies

Anyone interested?

Im about 10 miles from the winfield collection but I actually dont end up going there very much. They have a cool little show room, but unless the trip saves you more in shipping than it costs in gas, I dunno how much of an event it is.

Edit: They do usually let you pick through their extra plans pile at checkout though, so if you find something useful in there it has some added value.

Ray, you will find that when we do things as a group it is a lot more fun. I imagine there would be more interest in a trip to Raven Farm to buy wood for good prices. With a small group it is easy to reach the 100 board foot minimum purchase.
