Default New guy

Hello everyone, I've been working with wood most of my life thanks to my Grandfather, he was a pattern maker. I've been a laborer my whole life. I've been in the market for a router for a few years but was just waiting for an excuse to get one. I have a fairly good collection of tools. Most of my projects are on the smaller scale but i'm hoping the new router will bring on some new ideas and challenges.

Hey Christopher; welcome! What exactly did you mean by "smaller projects"? Did you mean things like models, jewellery boxes, etc? The reason I ask is that should influence what type of router you invest in.
I'm the last one to ask for router advice but, having said that, I have three all of different sizes/HP for different purposes.
My little Ryobi laminate trimmer has been a faithful companion for something like two, maybe three decades. It's pretty much relegated to doing just that, laminate trimming, which doesn't mean that it couldn't be used for a lot more!
Cheers,
-Dan

Thanks for the welcome. Dan, My small scale comment was kind of misleading. By small I meant I've built chairs, picture frames, jewelry boxes, computer desk, shelves and such. Not really small but compared to the size of stuff I take care of at work. I Picked up a new in box Bosch combo 2.25 HP off of Craigslist this last week.
