Default Router and Table

Hi Guys... Living in South Africa and checking out all your Woodworking online stores, just makes me so envious... I am looking for a good 15 Amp Router and Router Table with lift... I have tried ordering from online sites but NO ONE DELIVERS TO THIS COUNTRY... Can anyone please give me advice as to where i can go... I love the Big Dog Table unit and the PC 7518 but cant get them here and no one will deliver...

Hi Chris,

My very best friend hunts occasionally in Africa not too far from S. Africa and he tells horror stories about getting things from the US to there. I am new to the forum, not particularly experienced as a woodworker, though I have worked with wood since I was in grade school with not a lot of big machines to help me do my work. I have an eye for form, though and with a small set of tools I have managed to satisfy my needs over the years. Hope you get this all sorted out because a tool like a router is one of the most versatile and useful tools you can have. A real time saver.

All the best
Larry

Hi Chris,

We feel your pain also here in Australia.

For example, I bought 2 router table plates today and they cost $A35 each.

You may have more success with a supplier from Europe/UK.

Just a thought.

Default Hi ya

Check out YouTube (search router tables) for many good ideas on building your own table. I just built one with the threaded rod lift that works a treat and cost very little to make. As to sourcing a router,,,good luck, no experience with South Africa

Hey Chris good to see another Soutie on this forum.

The Porter Cable router will not work as it's 110v and we need 220-240v machines.

I would look at either the Triton or Bosch routers for table mounting but be prepared to use Vaseline if you go the German route.

Where are you based?

You can import stuff into SA, you just need to organise a courier first. I brought in some stuff from INCRA (router table fence system) but I've opted to make the router table myself as the shipping fees for heavy items would be too expensive.

What's wrong with a Triton Router Table?

Keep well.
